Day 3: All the world's a stage..

Day 3: Theatre.

I can't even begin to explain what theatre has done for my life. But I will try and give you a little idea (ps, sorry for how out of order the pictures are).

My whole life I have loved Disney movies, which some people for whatever reason don't realize are musicals, and I was always in my church musicals. I started ballet when I was 3... but for whatever reason, with all of the singing and dancing in my life, I never thought about the idea of combining them and doing musical theatre until I was in high school. My senior year of high school (see picture below), I auditioned for "Grease", one of my all time favorite movies, and was cast as the role of "Sandy." <---highlight of my high school career, and ever since then I wanted to do as much theatre as I could.

At MPC, the community college I went to, I started talking all the acting classes that I could. I jumped in to doing scene work and was loving it! The summer after my freshman year of college I was in "Evita" which ran all summer, we did 32 shows, and I never wanted it to end. My next show was "My Fair Lady" (picture below), and I did more dancing than I think I had ever done up to that point.

That next summer, after doing more scene work and a few smaller shows during the year, I was in a big summer production of "The Producers." That was amazing, and I met one of my dearest friends Camila (far left in the picture below).
The next summer *intert deep sigh here* I was in the central coast premiere of "RENT." This show, the cast, the process, the rehearsals, the music, everything about that summer, changed my life. I can't explain it, but know that it did.

(below: some of the cast of "Evita," guy to my right Mike(che), one of my dearest friends in the world).

(below: Camila and I in our "Springtime for Hitler" costumes!)

(below: rehearsing for "RENT")

(below: "Danny" and "Sandy")

(below: Jameson, another dear theatre friend, backstage)

(below: Mike(che) and I, again)

Loooonnnnng story short, I am very very thankful for theatre.

yes please.

today i've been a tiny bit cranky. i don't feel the greatest, i have a yucky stuffy nose, and i just have more homework and responsibilities to take care of than i want to. i've been browsing through pintrest and i've discovered something about myself.. i love forts. i want to build one in my living room, and turn my room into a permanent one. i want to drape my bed with white sheets or sheer fabric and put twinkle lights everywhere. once that has been done, i want to cuddle inside of it with blankets and a book and a glass of wine (or a cup of tea).

i have also been thinking about the qualities, or type of man i eventually want to be with... and along with many other qualities, i want him to be able to be silly with me (when it is appropriate). i want to be able to decide that building a fort in the living room, eating pizza, watching movies and more or less "camping" in the living room would be a really fun idea and have him be as silly about it as i would be!
i found this picture (below) and decided i want this somewhere in my house. it's like a permanent fort that i could hide in and read, or take a nap. i love this!

I want to sit around a listen to Beirut all day.

Day 2: Amanda Noel Mann... soon to be Massingale!!

I know i've blogged about this girl before, but i'm doing it again. Seriously (not but seriously), I do not know what I would do without this girl. I know one things for sure, I wouldn't have stayed in LA if it wasn't for her. My butt would have gone home a LONG time ago. This girl has been through everything with me. I can mention any guy or almost anything that has ever happened in my life between about middle school and now and she will know exactly what I'm talking about. This girl is amazing and brilliant and I look up to her for so many reasons (I don't know if she actually knows that).
She just graduated from Cal State Long Beach in the Spring with her degree in Journalism and I am so proud of her! I honestly wish I could be half the student this girl is/was. She always got amazing grades, wrote amazing pieces and still found time to read and blog just for fun! I want to do that!
She was, and still is really, my sanity here at school (with the exception of Maegan, duh).. but I cannot count the times I called her crying at 10 o'clock at night, my first semester here, and asked if I could go stay with her, and she always said yes and whether we talked about what was going on when I got there or not, it always made me feel better. She always has my back, she is always there to give me advice and she's always (well mostly heehee) down for a crazy time.

She also just recently got engaged to an amazing man and I am so so so beyond happy for her! I only hope that God has a relationship, and a man, that perfect for me, planned for me. (I know he does, it's only a matter of time).
When she called me to tell me, which I found out later they "discussed" for about 20 minutes as to how they were going to tell me, I freaked out! I screamed! I have been bouncing wedding ideas off her almost every day since, we even went and looked at dresses one weekend when I was home. I cannot wait for her wedding, although I am a little sad about losing out on the whole sleepover thing, can't really have those once you're married. I am going to be all over her bachelorette party and bridal shower, yes I am.

I don't even know how this girl puts up with my shinanigans. I am that crazy best friend. No really. I love her and her family more than life itself and I cannot wait to spend as much time as I can with her and her fiance over Christmas this year. She is also coming to visit me next Wednesday through Saturday and I am SO excited! There will definitely be a blog and many pictures following that visit.

Happy November!

Smell the roses..

I took this picture on campus.. It reminded me that beauty can be found everywhere.. Even on the campus of CSUN.

dinner with the new little ones

Last night, Halloween, Maegan and I had our new littles over for dinner! We decided we would actually cook and sit down at the table like big girls. Because it was Halloween they came in costumes, Super(man) and a football player. These girls are too cute. They brought us a hostess gift for having them over. This is Piggie.. the Turtle. We named him Piggie because he is a piggie bank.. but he's a turtle. I thought it was appropriate.

We also, while at the store, purchased Snickerdoodle coffee creamer to go with our Pumpkin Spice coffee and we drank it while we were cooking.. it was delicious.
We made some super yummy artichoke dip for an appetizer.

for the main course we had baked chicken (cooked with cream of mushroom soup and cheese), pastaroni, broccoli and buscuits. It was so good!

and in keeping with the theme of Halloween we had pumkin ale! It didn't taste much different than regular beer, or at least I thought, but it was still good!

and we ate at the table for the first time!! (with chairs we borrowed from our neighbors).

after dinner we hung out for a little bit than Maegan and I went and saw "Paranormal Activity 3"... it wasn't thhhhhhhaaattt bad, but being scared the whole time waiting for what was going to happen was NOT fun! I'm not the biggest fan of Halloween, so I'm glad it's over.

It's November! It's November!

It's November, and for me that means that the holiday season is very quickly approaching. In 23 days exactly, it will be Thanksgiving and my brother will be here! (He's in Florida for school, remember this?) I am very very excited. Being that Thanksgiving is coming up, Amanda Noel and I decided that we wanted to do some sort of blogging challenge for the month, so here it is... 30 days of thankfulness. We will be posting a blog a day, each with something different that we are thankful for. The "button" at the top of the screen will take you to all of our posts if you click on it. Here we go..

Day 1: My family.
Anytime someone asks me what I am thankful for, the first thing that comes to mind is my family. I have the most amazing family in the world. My parents have been married for 25 years this coming June, and they are adorable. They have given me the greatest example of what a marriage should be. My whole family is always supportive, helpful, involved (so so involved), and hilarious. I crack up so much at my dad and my brothers its ridiculous. Every single day I am thankful for the family I have. I am so blessed. At times I compare my life, with my family, to that of others, and it's mind boggling how lucky I am. We are all so healthy, and all quite close. My parents and my brothers are my favorite people in this world. I cannot wait for the time I am going to get with all of them this holiday season.
